About Ascot

Ascot is a soft 100% wool loop pile in a tight, well-judged run of neutrals — Cream and Beige at the warm end, then Platinum, Silver, Pewter and Steel working through the greys. That spread is more useful than it sounds. Most wool ranges commit to one temperature or the other, so if your walls and units sit on the cool side a warm beige floor will fight them all day, and vice versa. Ascot covers both in a single range, which means you can match the floor to the room rather than compromise. It's aimed at houses that get used: a tufted loop construction resists crushing where people actually walk, wool recovers its shape rather than staying flattened, and the fibre's natural coating stops most spills soaking straight in, so it cleans up easily. The pile is around 6mm, which is a sensible everyday specification — substantial enough to feel like a proper carpet without the height causing problems at doorways. Part of the Floors by Lewis Abbott collection, distributed by Likewise Floors.

Swatch images give a good guide, but neutrals in particular shift a lot under real light.

Warm or cool? Decide it against your own walls

This range spans both temperatures, which is its real strength — but it also means the choice is easy to get wrong from a screen. A cream that looks perfect online can fight grey units in daylight, and a cool pewter can look cold in a north-facing room. Book a free home measure and we'll bring shades from both ends of the range, hold them against your skirtings and units, measure up, and give you a written price including underlay, fitting and uplift. Free, no obligation.

Common questions

Why is there no price on this page?

Flooring is priced per job rather than per metre off a shelf. The final figure depends on the room size and shape, the underlay you choose, whether we're lifting an old floor, door trims, and the fitting itself. The free home measure is how you get a real number, and it costs nothing.

Warm neutral or cool grey — how do I decide?

Look at what's already fixed in the room. Cool greys sit well with white or grey units, chrome and blue-toned walls; Cream and Beige work better with oak, brass, and warmer paint colours. Get it wrong and the floor will quietly fight everything else in the room. We'll bring samples from both ends of the range to the measure and put them on your floor next to your skirtings.

Will a grey carpet date?

Cool greys had a moment and some people are moving back to warmer tones, so it's a fair question. A mid grey like Steel or Pewter is about as safe as a neutral gets — it's the very pale, blue-leaning greys that tend to look of their moment. If you're unsure, we'll bring Platinum and Pewter along with the warmer shades so you can see them against your own walls.

Is a loop pile a good idea if I have pets?

Worth thinking twice about with cats specifically, as claws can pull individual loops. If that's a concern, say so when you book and we'll bring twist pile alternatives to the measure alongside it.

Do you fit as well as supply?

We do. We arrange fitting across Clydebank, Glasgow and the surrounding areas, including uplift and disposal of your old flooring if needed.
