Ascot is a soft wool loop pile in a tight run of cool neutral tones — Steel, Silver, Platinum and Pewter, moving from mid grey down to a pale silvered finish. It's aimed squarely at busy houses: the loop construction resists crushing where people actually walk, wool recovers rather than staying flattened, and the pile is easy to clean because the fibre's natural coating stops most spills soaking straight in. The greys are the reason to look at it. Warm neutrals dominate most carpet ranges, and if your walls, units or furniture sit on the cool side of the spectrum, a beige floor will fight them all day. Ascot gives you a cool-toned wool floor that still feels soft and warm underfoot, which is a harder combination to find than it sounds. Colours in this range
The four shades below can be ordered through our Clydebank showroom. Two further shades, 62 Beige and 70 Cream, are currently showing as unavailable from the mill — ring us and we'll check whether they're due back before you rule them out. Swatch images give a good guide, but colour reads differently under real light, so come in and see the samples against your own dimensions before deciding.
Common questions
Why is there no price on this page?
Flooring is priced per job rather than per metre off a shelf. The final figure depends on the room size and shape, the underlay you choose, whether we're lifting an old floor, door trims, and the fitting itself. Call us on 0141 266 0400 with rough measurements and we'll give you a realistic figure, or book a free home measure and we'll do it properly.
Will a grey carpet date?
Cool greys had a moment and some people are moving back to warmer tones, so it's a fair question. Our honest answer is that a mid-grey like Steel or Pewter is about as safe as a neutral gets — it's the very pale, blue-leaning greys that tend to look of their moment. If you're unsure, take Platinum and Pewter home and see them against your own walls.
Is a loop pile a good idea if I have pets?
Worth thinking twice about with cats specifically, as claws can pull individual loops. If that's a concern, come in and we'll show you twist pile alternatives that behave better with pets.
Can I get a sample to take home?
Yes. We keep samples in the showroom and you're welcome to take shades away to look at in your own light. Greys in particular shift a lot between showroom lighting and a north-facing room, so we always recommend it.
Do you fit as well as supply?
We do. We arrange fitting across Clydebank, Glasgow and the surrounding areas, including uplift and disposal of your old flooring if needed.
