Do you fit flooring bought somewhere else?
No, and it is not us being awkward. When a floor is bought online or from one shop and fitted by someone else, nobody owns the job. If a plank lifts or a seam shows, the fitter says the material is wrong and the seller says it was fitted badly, and you are stuck in the middle. We have seen it too many times to be part of it.
So we do it the other way round. We measure your rooms, supply the floor and arrange expert fitting, and the whole thing sits under one price and one guarantee. If anything is not right, there is one number to ring and it is ours.
A fitting-only quote looks cheap because half the job is missing from it.
Underlay, gripper, door bars, adhesive, the extra metre you need because the roll is 4m wide and your room is 4.2m. None of that is in a price per square metre for labour.
Supply and fit, priced as one job
People compare a supply-only price plus a fitter's day rate against our one price and assume ours must be dearer. Line the two up properly and it rarely is. Here is where the money goes.
- Waste is worked out by someone who knows the roll widthsCarpet and vinyl come in fixed widths. Measure a room roughly, order online, and you either run short or pay for a strip you throw away. We measure at home and order the right amount, with seams placed where you will not see them.
- The quote includes everything the floor needsUnderlay, gripper, door bars, adhesive, the uplift and disposal of the old floor, doors trimmed if they catch. Buy separately and every one of those is an extra you find out about on the day.
- The fitter has fitted this product beforeClick LVT, glue-down LVT, laminate with an integrated underlay, a stair with winders: each one is laid differently. The fitters we use know our ranges, so there is no learning on your floor.
- Trade prices on the materialsWe buy from the manufacturers directly and the price you see already reflects that. A fitter buying a few boxes for one job cannot.

Laminate
Good laminate laid on the right underlay with proper expansion gaps and trims lasts years. Laid badly it clicks and lifts. We do the former.
Sheet vinyl
Cushioned vinyl for kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms, cut to the room in one piece wherever the width allows.
Engineered wood
Real wood on a stable base, laid floating or glued depending on the room and the subfloor. Measured and planned at the home visit.

Can you fit a floor I bought online?
No. We only arrange fitting for flooring we supply, so that the whole job, the product and the fitting, is covered by us. If you have already bought the floor, a local independent fitter is the right call.
Who actually does the fitting?
Expert fitters we have worked with for years, who know our ranges. The job is booked, priced and guaranteed through us, so you deal with Paul James Home from start to finish.
How much does fitting cost?

Do you fit LVT and herringbone?
Yes. Click and glue-down LVT, including herringbone and parquet patterns. Glue-down needs a properly prepared subfloor, which we check at the measure.
Do you do stairs?
Yes, including winders, turns and open sides. Stairs are the most skilled part of any carpet job and the one we always measure in person.
Will you take the old floor away?
Yes, uplift and disposal can be included and is priced in the quote so there is no surprise on the day.
How soon can it be fitted?
Stocked lines can be quick; ordered-in ranges take longer. We give you a realistic date at the measure, not a hopeful one.
Is finance available on fitting?
Yes. 0% finance and Klarna are available on the whole job, floor and fitting together, on qualifying orders.
