The finishing touches that make the floor.
Underlay, door bars and trims, the same ones our fitters use every day. Add them to your new floor, or buy them on their own.
Carpet underlay
Good underlay is half the carpet
It is what makes a carpet feel soft, keeps the room warm and quiet, and stops the pile flattening early. Every roll covers 15m². Not sure which? Pick by the room: everyday for bedrooms, high density for living rooms, and Tread for halls and stairs.

Laminate, wood & LVT underlay
Quieter floors, flatter boards
Hard floors need a thin, firm underlay that stops the hollow click-clack and evens out small dips in the subfloor. Each roll covers 10m². Acoustica Pro 25 has a low tog for underfloor heating and helps flats meet sound regulations.

Door bars & threshold bars
A neat finish at every doorway
Every doorway where two floors meet needs a bar. Pick the one that matches what is on each side of the door, then choose a finish to suit your handles.

Door bar
Carpet to hard floor
Single edge bar that grips the carpet and finishes it against tiles, laminate or vinyl.
£15 from, 90cm

Door bar
Carpet to carpet
Double edge bar that grips both carpets across a doorway.
£20 from, 90cm

Door bar
Floors the same height
Flat self-adhesive cover strip. Laminate to vinyl, LVT to laminate. No screws.
£18 from, 90cm
Carpet one side, hard floor the other
Use a carpet edge bar. It grips the carpet and sits down onto the tiles, laminate or vinyl.
Carpet both sides
Use a carpet to carpet bar so both edges are gripped and nothing frays.
Hard floor both sides
Same height? A stick-down cover strip. Different heights? Ask us about a ramp profile.
Questions
The ones we get asked most
- Do I need new underlay with a new carpet?
- Almost always. Old underlay has already been flattened, and putting a new carpet on it shortens the carpet's life. Many carpet guarantees also expect new underlay.
- Is it included when you fit my floor?
- Underlay, gripper and door bars are listed on your quote so you can see exactly what you are paying for. You choose the underlay, and our fitters fit it with the floor.
- Will a 90cm door bar fit my door?
- A standard internal door opening is just under 80cm, so a 90cm bar covers it with a little to trim. Wider openings need the 2.7m length, cut to size.
- Can I collect instead?
- Yes. Everything on this page can be collected from our showroom inside the Co-op, Clydebank, Monday to Saturday.
- How is it delivered?
- Underlay rolls travel with flooring on our pallet delivery. Door bars go by tracked parcel. Long 2.7m bars are best collected or added to a flooring delivery.
