About Chantilly

Chantilly is a 100% wool loop pile with a textured surface, and what sets it apart from the other wool loops we carry is the sheer spread of its palette. It starts at Snowfall and Haze, about as pale as a wool carpet gets, works through Sunrise, Raindrop, Sky and Moonlight in the mid tones, and then keeps going — Storm Cloud, Shadow and Midnight take it somewhere most carpet ranges simply don't go. Genuinely dark carpet is unusual and worth knowing about. It's the obvious answer for a snug, a home cinema, a study or a room that gets hard use, because a dark floor hides marks that a pale one advertises. It also does something a pale carpet can't: it grounds a room with light walls and lets furniture stand out against it rather than blend in. The loop construction resists crushing in walkways, and wool brings the usual advantages — warmth, natural flame resistance and a fibre that recovers its shape rather than staying flat. Colours in this range

All 9 shades below can be ordered through our Clydebank showroom, arranged here from lightest to darkest. Swatch images give a good guide, but colour reads differently under real light — and the dark shades in particular photograph flatter than they look in person.

Thinking about a dark floor? See it in the actual room first

Dark carpet is the single hardest thing to judge from a photograph, and the single easiest to regret. In a room with decent natural light it reads as cosy and deliberate; in a small north-facing room it can close the space right down. Book a free home measure and we'll bring Storm Cloud, Shadow and Midnight along with the mid tones, put them on your floor in your own daylight, measure up and give you a written price including underlay, fitting and uplift. Free, no obligation — and we'll tell you honestly if we think it's too dark for the room.

Common questions

Why is there no price on this page?

Flooring is priced per job rather than per metre off a shelf. The final figure depends on the room size and shape, the underlay you choose, whether we're lifting an old floor, door trims, and the fitting itself. The free home measure is how you get a real number, and it costs nothing.

Is a dark carpet a mistake in a small room?

Not necessarily, but be honest about the light. A dark floor in a room with decent natural light reads as cosy and deliberate. In a small north-facing room with one window it can close the space down. The other thing worth knowing is that dark carpets show lint, dust and pet hair more than mid tones do — they hide stains but not fluff. Mid shades like Raindrop or Sky are the safer bet if you're unsure, and we'll bring both to the measure.

Which shade is best for a busy hallway?

Something in the middle. The palest shades will show every footprint from the front door, and the darkest will show grit and dust. Sky, Moonlight or Storm Cloud sit in the sweet spot where everyday traffic simply doesn't register.

Nine shades all look similar online. How do I choose?

You don't, from a screen — they're much easier to separate side by side in real light. That's exactly what the free home measure is for: we bring the range to you, lay them out on your own floor, and the decision usually makes itself within a few minutes.

Do you fit as well as supply?

We do. We arrange fitting across Clydebank, Glasgow and the surrounding areas, including uplift and disposal of your old flooring if needed.

Let us bring Chantilly to you

We don't list flooring prices online — every job is priced on the room, the underlay and the fitting. Book a free home measure and we'll bring the samples to you, measure properly and give you a written price including fitting. No charge, no obligation.
