About Gatsby
Gatsby is a flatweave built for real life rather than for show, and the fibre is the reason. It's a blend of stain-resistant polypropylene with cotton and polyester, which is a very different proposition from wool. Polypropylene doesn't absorb liquid the way a natural fibre does, so spills sit on the surface long enough to be lifted rather than soaking in and setting — it's the sensible choice for a dining room, a family living room, or anywhere red wine and children are both in play. It's also colourfast enough to cope with cleaning that would strip a wool carpet. What you give up is the softness and the natural warmth of wool, so it's a trade rather than an upgrade. The range comes in two woven designs across twelve muted shades, and the names are all drawn from the Fitzgerald novel — Daisy, Carraway, Buchanan, Myrtle, Long Island, West Egg territory — running from pale naturals through to deeper, smokier tones. Being a flatweave, it also has the slim profile that solves door-clearance problems where a thick carpet won't fit. Part of the Floors by Lewis Abbott collection, distributed by Likewise Floors.

Colours in this range
All 12 shades in the range are below, arranged from lightest to darkest. Availability moves around at the mill, so ring us on 0141 266 0400 and we'll confirm what's actually in stock before you set your heart on a shade. Swatch images give a good guide, but the weave texture and the two different designs read far better in person.
Bring the samples where the spills happen
If you're looking at Gatsby it's probably for a dining room, a family living room or a kitchen-diner — rooms where the floor has to survive real life. Those are exactly the rooms worth seeing a sample in before you commit, against your own table, units and light. Book a free home measure and we'll bring the shades you like, measure up, and give you a written price including underlay, fitting and uplift. Free, no obligation.

Why is there no price on this page?
Flooring is priced per job rather than per metre off a shelf. The final figure depends on the room size and shape, the underlay you choose, whether we're lifting an old floor, door trims, and the fitting itself. The free home measure is how you get a real number, and it costs nothing.
Is polypropylene a downgrade from wool?
It's a trade, not a downgrade — they're good at different things. Wool is softer, warmer and recovers better from furniture. Polypropylene resists staining far better and takes stronger cleaning, because the fibre doesn't absorb liquid the way wool does. For a dining room or a family living room, Gatsby is often the more sensible floor. For a bedroom you want to feel luxurious, we'd point you at the wool ranges.
What are the two designs?
The range is woven in two patterns across the same twelve shades, so the colour you like is available either way. They're easier to tell apart in person than in a photograph — we'll bring both to the measure so you can see which suits the room.
Will it stand up to a busy hallway?
Yes. Flatweaves have no pile to crush, so they don't develop the worn track that a plush carpet gets down the middle of a hall. Combine that with the stain resistance and it's one of the better choices for a hard-working part of the house.
Do you fit as well as supply?
We do. We arrange fitting across Clydebank, Glasgow and the surrounding areas, including uplift and disposal of your old flooring if needed.
