Apex, Axis and Vela are three separate flatweave ranges that sit together deliberately. All three are woven herringbones, all three come in the same five tones — Soft Linen, Warm Pearl, Toasted Wheat, Driftwood and Shadow Stone — and the only thing that changes between them is the geometry of the weave itself. We've put them on one page for that reason: the useful comparison isn't reading three descriptions, it's seeing the same colour woven three different ways and deciding which pattern you want. Apex is the most restrained, a refined and tightly structured herringbone that reads as texture from standing height. Axis is the boldest, with a strong directional geometry that gives a floor real movement and makes the pattern the point. Vela sits between them, a softer flowing interpretation with more rhythm than Apex but less assertion than Axis. As flatweaves, all three are woven rather than tufted, so there's no pile to crush and the profile is slim enough to matter where a door already catches. They're newer additions to the collection and the technical sheets aren't published yet — we'll get the weights and widths from the mill when you're ready to price a room. The three weaves
The same five tones run through each range, so pick the pattern first and the colour second. Availability moves around at the mill, so ring us on 0141 266 0400 and we'll confirm what's in stock. Herringbone geometry is one of the hardest things to judge from a screen — the samples are worth the trip.
Apex
The most restrained of the three. A refined, tightly structured herringbone that reads as texture rather than pattern from standing height — the safe choice if you want the weave without the statement.
Vela
The middle ground. A softer, flowing take on the herringbone with more rhythm and movement than Apex, but without Axis's hard geometry. Suits rooms where you want interest underfoot but the furniture is doing the talking.
Axis
The boldest. A strong directional geometry that gives the floor real depth and movement and makes the pattern the feature of the room. Best where there's space for it to be seen — a hall, a landing, an open living space.
Common questions
Why is there no price on this page?
Flooring is priced per job rather than per metre off a shelf. The final figure depends on the room size and shape, the underlay you choose, whether we're lifting an old floor, door trims, and the fitting itself. Call us on 0141 266 0400 with rough measurements and we'll give you a realistic figure, or book a free home measure and we'll do it properly.
Which of the three should I choose?
Work backwards from how much you want the floor noticed. Axis makes the pattern a feature and needs space to be seen properly. Apex is quiet enough to be a backdrop. Vela sits in between. In a small room or a busy scheme we'd usually steer you towards Apex; in a hall or an open living space Axis earns its keep.
How do these differ from your original Herringbone range?
The original Herringbone is a twelve-shade range with a full published specification — 90% polypropylene with 10% wool, 6.7mm total height, 4m and 5m widths. Apex, Axis and Vela are newer, come in five shared tones, and offer three different weave geometries instead of one. If the technical numbers matter to your decision, the original range is the one we can quote in full today.
Can I see all three in the same colour?
Yes, and it's the sensible way to decide. Because the five tones are shared, we can put Apex, Vela and Axis side by side in the same shade so you're comparing the weave alone rather than the weave and the colour at once.
Do you fit as well as supply?
We do. We arrange fitting across Clydebank, Glasgow and the surrounding areas, including uplift and disposal of your old flooring if needed. A directional pattern needs care over stair nosings and at joins, so it's worth having us arrange it.
