Nickleby is a chunky loop pile in 100% pure wool, and the word chunky is doing real work here — this is a heavier, coarser loop than a fine wool carpet, with a rugged surface that reads more like a natural floor covering than a smooth fitted carpet. It's the right answer if you want texture and substance rather than something that disappears into the room. The range comes in two forms: a plain loop that stays quiet and versatile enough to sit under any furniture, and a patterned loop with subtle tonal variation for anyone who wants the floor to do more of the talking. Wool gives it the practical side — it insulates, it's naturally flame-retardant, it resists soiling because of the fibre's own protective coating, and a loop construction resists crushing in the places that get walked on most. It suits living rooms, bedrooms and staircases, and it's a sensible pick if you like the look of a sisal or seagrass floor but want something you can walk on barefoot. Why is there no price on this page?
Flooring is priced per job rather than per metre off a shelf. The final figure depends on the room size and shape, the underlay you choose, whether we're lifting an old floor, door trims, and the fitting itself. Call us on 0141 266 0400 with rough measurements and we'll give you a realistic figure, or book a free home measure and we'll do it properly.
Which shades are plain and which are patterned?
The range runs in both, but we'd rather you saw them than took our word from a swatch photo — the tonal variation in the patterned loops is subtle and doesn't photograph well. Call us or come in and we'll walk you along the display and point out which is which.
Is a chunky loop comfortable to walk on barefoot?
Yes, and that's the usual reason people choose it over a natural sisal or seagrass floor. It has the same textured, rugged look but wool is soft and warm rather than scratchy, so it works in bedrooms as well as hallways.
Is a loop pile a good idea if I have pets?
Worth thinking twice about with cats specifically, as claws can pull individual loops, and a chunky loop has larger loops to catch. If that's a concern, come in and we'll show you twist pile alternatives that behave better with pets.
Do you fit as well as supply?
We do. We arrange fitting across Clydebank, Glasgow and the surrounding areas, including uplift and disposal of your old flooring if needed.
