About Pickwick

Pickwick is a fine loop pile in 100% natural wool, and it sits at the more refined end of the wool loops we carry. Where Nickleby is chunky and rugged and Huckleberry has a deliberately uneven high-low surface, Pickwick is even and understated — the texture is there when you look for it, but the floor reads as calm rather than characterful. That makes it the easier choice for a formal living room or a main bedroom, where you want the carpet to be the quiet backdrop rather than a feature. The eight shades are contemporary neutrals that sit comfortably alongside most decorating schemes. Wool is a renewable, sustainable fibre — it grows back — and it brings the practical advantages that come with it: warmth underfoot, natural flame resistance, natural soil resistance from the fibre's own coating, and the ability to spring back after furniture rather than holding the dent. Part of the Floors by Lewis Abbott collection, distributed by Likewise Floors.

Common questions

Why is there no price on this page?

Flooring is priced per job rather than per metre off a shelf. The final figure depends on the room size and shape, the underlay you choose, whether we're lifting an old floor, door trims, and the fitting itself. Call us on 0141 266 0400 with rough measurements and we'll give you a realistic figure, or book a free home measure and we'll do it properly.

How does Pickwick differ from the other wool loops you stock?

Mostly in how much the texture announces itself. Pickwick is fine and even, so it reads as a calm backdrop. Huckleberry has a deliberate high-low surface with more visible character, and Nickleby is chunkier again with a rugged, natural look. All three are wool loops; the choice is about how much you want the floor to be noticed.

Is wool really more sustainable than a synthetic carpet?

On the fibre itself, yes — it's renewable, it grows back, and it biodegrades at end of life, where a polypropylene carpet doesn't. Worth being straight with you though: backing materials and adhesives vary, so a wool carpet isn't automatically a fully natural product from top to bottom. Ask us about the specific construction if it matters to you.

Can I get a sample to take home?

Yes. We keep samples in the showroom and you're welcome to take shades away to look at in your own light. Colour changes considerably between showroom lighting and a north-facing room, so we always recommend it.

Do you fit as well as supply?

We do. We arrange fitting across Clydebank, Glasgow and the surrounding areas, including uplift and disposal of your old flooring if needed.

We don't list flooring prices online — every job is priced on the room, the underlay and the fitting. Bring your rough measurements and we'll work out a proper figure while you wait.
