About Pot Pourri

Pot Pourri is a faux sisal — a woven flatweave that gives you the natural, textured look of a sisal or seagrass floor without the two things that put people off real sisal. Genuine sisal is coarse underfoot and it stains badly, because the natural fibre drinks up anything spilled on it. Pot Pourri is a polypropylene-rich blend with a little wool in it, so it keeps the woven texture and the natural colouring while being softer to walk on and far more forgiving about spills. The eight shades are all quiet naturals — Pebble, Stone and Pumice at the paler end, Earth for warmth, and Nickel, Steel and Slate running cooler and darker. Being a flatweave it also has a slim profile, which matters more than people expect: it will often go under a door that already catches, or butt up against an existing hard floor without a big step. That solves a real problem in older houses and in rooms where floor levels don't match. Part of the Floors by Lewis Abbott collection, distributed by Likewise Floors.

The seven shades below can be ordered through our Clydebank showroom, arranged from lightest to darkest. An eighth shade, Clay, is currently showing as unavailable from the mill — ring us and we'll check whether it's due back before you rule it out. Swatch images give a good guide, but the woven texture reads far better in person.

Loved sisal, been warned off it? See both side by side

This is the range people arrive at after someone has told them real sisal stains. The honest way to settle it is to put the two next to each other in your own room and feel the difference. Book a free home measure and we'll bring Pot Pourri alongside the real Sisal Collection, measure up, check the door clearances, and give you a written price including underlay, fitting and uplift. Free, no obligation — and we'll tell you straight which one suits your house.

Common questions

Why is there no price on this page?

Flooring is priced per job rather than per metre off a shelf. The final figure depends on the room size and shape, the underlay you choose, whether we're lifting an old floor, door trims, and the fitting itself. The free home measure is how you get a real number, and it costs nothing.

How does this compare with real sisal?

It looks very similar and behaves much better. Real sisal is a natural plant fibre — it's coarse underfoot and it marks badly, because spills soak straight in and often can't be lifted. Pot Pourri gives you the same woven, natural appearance but it's softer to walk on and far more forgiving with spills. If you've admired sisal but been warned off it, this is the answer — and we'll bring both to the measure so you can judge for yourself.

Will it fit under my doors?

Very likely, and it's one of the main reasons people choose a flatweave. There's no standing pile, so the whole floor build-up is much slimmer than a tufted carpet on a thick underlay. We'd rather measure it than promise a number off a website — that's part of what the free measure covers.

Is it soft enough for a bedroom?

It's softer than real sisal but it's still a flatweave, so it's firmer than a wool loop or a twist pile. Plenty of people use it in bedrooms and are happy; if softness underfoot is your priority, say so when you book and we'll bring the wool ranges to compare.

Do you fit as well as supply?

We do. We arrange fitting across Clydebank, Glasgow and the surrounding areas, including uplift and disposal of your old flooring if needed.

Let us bring Pot Pourri to you

We don't list flooring prices online — every job is priced on the room, the underlay and the fitting. Book a free home measure and we'll bring the samples to you, measure properly and give you a written price including fitting. No charge, no obligation.
